Rear lift blocks on 89 2wd

Ok so i wanted to throw some 2" lift blocks in the rear of my truck but I noticed that the axle sits on top of the leaf springs....so how would I put the axle under the springs and not have to worry about it shifting? Because im pretty sure the little tabs on the leaf springs and axle and brackets that hold it all together wouldnt line up if I were to just stick it under the springs....do I need to weld new tabs to the axle or what? Any help is much appreciated.

You would need to weld new spring perches on top of the axle, something like shown below:

And that will give you at least 4" of lift, basically the sum of the height of the two perches, the diameter of the axle tube and the thickness of the spring pack.
