Rear Latch Stuck Help!
Okay. My rear latch is stuck on my 99 4runner. Back panel is off and I pull the cable and it won't open. I have also unhooked the battery and open closed the door lock several times and pushed, pulled kicked, lubed the door to get it open. No luck. Any suggestions? How to I remove the latch from the inside? Air hammer? Drill? Any suggestions help is appreciated. I've tried everything I have read about online.

If you have broken cables no amount of beating will open the hatch.
You need to pull the cables where they attach to the door lock assembly. They may need to be sprayed good if this has been sitting for awhile
At that time the only thing holding the hatch from opening is where it pivots at the bottom.
I need to lube the bottom parts every few weeks or they hardly move.

The cable was fine. I wound up having to tear the rubber boot off, lube it up really well and then I used a screwdriver on the hinge that the cable mechanism connects to on the base to pry the latch open.
