Rear Differential Question !!
Okay, Im not sure what kine of differential I have in my rear. I was told from the previous owner that it was either spool....
You guys could probably tell me what i have from this scenario.
WHenever I go onto sand with a hard underlayer, like sand over dirt. and im in 2WD, both of my back tires will spin, but my rear driver side will kind of hop and act like antilock brakes if you were braking, but except with power beeing fed. (if you know what i mean, itll skip) if it catches a bit of ground.....
WHen i drive on the road, and take hard turns, my back chirps and bites, which makes me believe i had spool or welded, but after having my back do that on the sand, i dont konw.. what do you guys think??

Jack up the rear axle until both wheels are off the ground. Then, with the parking brake off and the transmission(and/or transfer case) in neutral, spin one of the wheels by hand while watching the other one. If the other wheel spins in the opposite direction you have an open differential. If the other wheel spins in the same direction then you have a spool/welded, locking, or limited-slip differential.
