Question on 1986 Toyota 22re

I am doing research for my brother and can not find any info at all! He has a 1986 toyota pickup with the check engine light on. The manual shows when looking looking under the hood the connection to plug into is on the left side up on the wheel well. Well it is not there and I was wondering if it could be somewhere else? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Its a round plug located on the left wheel well. Check out 4crawlers web site, lots of information there. www.4crawler.com .

it's the box next to all the fuses and you jumper the TE1 to the E1 with a paper clip and count how many times the light flashes on the dash.

For example, if it's a code 25 it will blink 2 times then pause, then blink 5 more times.

pruney, I believe the older ones don't have that jumper box by the fuse box on the fender, the older ones are the yellow round connectors on the firewall. This is what's confusing him.

That`s correct, its a round plug on the driver side fender, right by the ignitor.
