Pricing for installation?

Hey guys.

I am having one of the local shops install a daystar 2.5" coilover kit on my 98 ltd 4runner. Both front and rear.

Anyways, they say that everything need alignment after installation, and should take about 4 man hours. This would all equal around $400.

Is this a reasonable price? They do need to remove the front springs, so i understand it is a complicated job, just seems a little bit pricey to me.

Any comments? I really want this done..

also, I am looking for some 31-33" tires that are aggressive, but wont make my mileage suffer because of the tread. I want aggressive tires, but still drive back and forth between the bay area and northern california.

thanks!

$400 is about right. If you search for a few lift install write-ups, you could do it yourself with a floor jack, stands and basic tools and save a lot of $$. Most shops would probably charge about $50 to install the spacers in the front struts if you brought them the struts. I think it's important to do this kind of stuff yourself if you have the means because you will learn a lot about your suspension in the process. BTW, you have about a 90% chance your CVs are going to leak grease after you put the spacers in. Most just get hose clamps to put over the stock CV boot clamps to tighten them and stop it from leaking.

hmmm what is the reason for them leaking? Because the angle of my driveshaft will be different?

the reason i want them installed by a shop is because 1) I do not have the required tools 2) do not have the space at home 3) do not have enough experience with this sort of stuff.

see if anyone on the forum in your area is willing to help! also yes if your boots are in bad shape you can run into problems with them cracking and leaking.
