pcv valve parts question
hey all,
i searched the pcv valve threads and think i have the answer but could someone confirm or deny?
OK, 94 22re rebuilt 10k ago. compression is good, no leaks anywhere of any fluid. uses alot of oil with no visible smoke from tail pipe. there is an oil smell that is apparent when im at a stop after driving though. when i took it to a mechanic they replaced the pcv valve AND the gasket! so right now my pcv valve and hose have oil in them (fresh looking) and i can lift the pcv valve out of the new rubber gasket they installed with extreme ease! the rubber gasket comes out very easily as well leaving the big hole there.
my pcv valve rattles so i dont think its shot though im replacing it anyways.
my questions are:
would these circumstances cause massive oil consumption?
what is the name of the CORRECT OEM gasket so i can order this along with an OEM pcv valve?
from what i remember about the PCV valve is that it doesnt come out of the VC easily (i had use to use pliers and alot of force). correct?
thanks for reading and i hope someone replies!
thanks!

If your gasket is new, it won't be that hard to pull out.
Granted, it should not be as easy as if you were just picking it up off the table.

Take the valve out, shake it, does it rattle?
I am not a mechanic, so if anyone is able to see error in what I say, correct me.
The PCV is supposed to route partially burned gases back into the engine.
I don't believe that fresh oil has any business in there...

Here is the route the air takes per the factory service manual. http://ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995_4Rn...n/positive.pdf
I am assuming that you still have the shield on the inside of the valve cover.
