PCV issues??? need some help!

PCV issues??? need some help!

I just got a 88 sr5 v6 PU, my first yota. The dude said it needed a new pcv valve but it runs descent just eating a little bit of oil over time.. So i did my research and I pulled the entire air intake system off. There was oil inside of the plastic air intake tube (which i read is a common symptom of a bad pcv valve). I replaced the PCV valve and the gromet that goes with it and the hose and threw in some new valve cover gaskets. The truck is still running just the same as it was but to my dismay, after driving it to school for a few days, I found out there is still oil getting into my air intake tube somehow. The truck does not smoke out of the exhaust when i start it or when im driving... (just saying, i dont think it would be the rings but idk...) Sooooo.... now what? I searched the internet high and low for things like "new pcv valve not working". I did read one blog that said that other parts of the pcv system could be clogged but I have not found any direction on how to clean it out or where to begin. PLEASE HELP! This is my dailydriver and from what I have read, the longer I drive it the worse off I am. Thanks in advance for any responses! Also to add, the oil pressure guage never comes up, IDK if it works or not..

How many miles are on the engine??

Even a properly working new PCV valve cannot compensate for excessive blow-by.

I dont know how many miles are on it, the last time that the speedo-cable was hooked up it was at 191,xxx. How could i confirm if it was blow by without tearing the engine down? My guess is that the oil is traveling directly up this tube from the valve cover.

One easy way to check is to remove the oil filler cap while the engine is running. If you have exhaust coming out of the crankcase, you have blow by. You can then determine how bad it is by doing compression and leak-down tests.

You can also add an oil catch can to the PCV hose. It won't fix the blow by, but it will keep the oil out of your intake. I've seen guys use the separator cans usually found on air compressors. The only drawback is if you don't empty it you risk your engine getting a gulp of oil instead of the usual oil vapor.
