Parking Light Circut

So me being a super genius I put 12v to the ground side wire that goes to the switch,

This caused the tail light fuse to blow immediately when turning on the parking lights,

While inspecting I removed the tail light relay and put it back in, Than everything was working fine.

On my way to work later that night the fuse blows again,
I replaced the relay thinking that I melted some wire in the relay causing it to short, And that did not fix the problem, The fuse still keeps popping.

Other than following the wires back to the lights what else should I check? From looking at the book it looks like all there is on that circut is the switch the relay and the lights..

Did you use a new relay ?, this is a long shot, but maybe it some how damaged the switch ?, i wouldn`t think that it would, but stranger things have happened.

you might unplug the headlight switch and see if it pops the fuse. that might narrow the problem down. if it still pops the fuse start pulling one fuse at a time. this could use a lot of fuses so if you have a 12v breaker of the same amperage, you can wire it up as a substitute for the fuse. this is how i traced a similar problem on a tractor . a good wiring diagram will help a lot.

I got a new relay and that didn't solve the problem so I unplugged the harness from the switches and grounded the light switch wire from the other side and it worked fine so I'm pretty sure its the switch.

before you buy a new switch try taking it apart, it might be repairable.
