Oil Change - US Quarts or Imperial Quarts - Help

Hey guys,

Sorry for dumb question. Just about to do my first oil change on the old pickup. Haynes Manual says 4.5 Quarts, just wondering if that US quarts or Imperial quarts? Want to make sure I dont put in to much. Thanks for any help.

Steve

I find between 4 and 5 US qts. fills my '85/22RE. I dump in 4 then check the dip stick and top it off to about full with the 5th qt. Usually leaves half a bottle and I wait until it drops after 1000 miles or so to dump in the rest of that bottle:
