Off road upgrade

i have a 2wd 85' Toyota pickup manual. i have a 5.0L 302 from a mustang that i am going to put in there, and i need to know what needs to be done with the axle? to stand up to the power. i eventually want to get a suspension lift and bigger tires and also wanna know how it effects what type of lift to get

thanks, mike

My suggestion would be to put a Ford 9" in the rear end, the little 7.5" toyota housing is too weak to handle that much power....think about it, its made to handle the power of a baby little 4 cyl.

even going to an 8" 4WD axle would be a huge step up!

you do not need a 9 inch for a stock 302.
