My transmission has been acting up for quite a bit. It pops out of 1st gear and 3rd gear cant be engaged.
I am planning on buying a transmission (or if someone lives close to san diego area let me know and ill take if off your hands). It is a w56. I plan to go junk yard hunting next weekend and i would like to know if i can get a w56 from any year and it wont matter or if I need the same year ( My truck is a 1989 4runner 22re. 1st gen. I always have a little problem finding parts for mine because the 2nd gen starts at 1989.5 or some bs like that.)

The throwout bearing on a newer one is different. Possible to use, but different.
