Hey y'all. I just scooped what I thought was a pretty good deal on a 93 2wd. It's my first truck and I am embarrassed to admit that I know almost nothing about autos, but the 22re seemed like a good place to start. My 93 looks clean from the outside, but upon closer inspection I discovered rust/rot in the area photographed below. I'm looking for help 1) identifying the part (it's up on the driver's side wheel) and 2) a yota doctor's opinion on whether or not this is terminal. Thanks everyone

red plague?
That would not concern me with what you are showing. Check where the rear leaf springs connect to the frame around the gas tank area. Also check the whole frame that is basically under the bed. If it is good, most likely you wont have a rusted frame issue. I would just get a wire brush on a drill and get it cleaned off and painted.
The horse shoe piece that has two bolts holding the sway bar to the frame, those bolts can break off into the frame. If you decide to pull the horse shoe/brace, soak them in PB Blaster real good and go gentle in trying to remove those bolts. I have seen where people broke a bolt and just welded the brace to the frame. Not the way I like to see it done.
