Opinions Needed! (Bullbars)

Hi all,

Anyone ever heard of or know anything about these brand of Bull bars? East Coast Bullbars out of Australia. They're made of aluminum alloy and are quite light which I think would be good for my 4Runner but I can't find much info on them. I can get a pretty good deal on this one but would appreciate any feedback you guys can provide.

Thanks, (sorry the pic's so huge)

Warren.

I have heard of them, but I don't know too much.
I do know though that everyone who has bought a TJM like Phong's & Steve's don't have any complaints as they are a direct fit.

Look in the Member's Rigs section to see a pic of Phong's.
There is also a group buy going on here for the TJM bumper.

PS, that's not a hydraulic Mile Marker winch is it?
They don't work good on Toy's. The Toyota power steering pump doesn't have the gump to run it.
Plus if the motor won't start, they are as useless at t*ts on a boar.

Just a thought, however, you are aware that a winch cannot be directly bolted onto an aluminum bull bar right...you will need to purchase a winch frame and they could cost upwards of $125.00, and that is if you can find one for that bar. You may want to play it safe and go with a TJM or ARB, what kind of price were you looking at for that bar??

price

$700 Canadian no tax. an ARB would be $1045 plus tax.

Good point about the winch. I'll check that out for sure.

Hmmmmm, the money exhange factor.
If you had a TJM drop shipped somewhere done here in WA. state, it would be a few hour drive South for you. Then we could install it, and you could cross the border without paying a tax on it

There are quite a few of us down here who could help install it I bet.

Corey that is a good point, we could have TJM drop ship it to a pre-designated location, a few hours for install and bam! he has a duty free bumper...

Tempting offer guys!

The TJM converts out to be about $880 for me. I like them but would probably powder-coat it black!

I can just see the Customs guy asking me why I have an old bumper in the back

Mile Marker

Corey,

I don't think I would even consider a Mile Marker. I hear they're darn slow not to mention useless without a running engine.

Warn.

You can get a steel T15 bar, powder coated black for $550.00 plus shipping (around $140.00)

Plus, why keep the old bumper?

bullbars

Agreed Lance. These guys are very generous.

I've got some thinking to do about the economies of a trip right now stateside. Those BC Ferries are pricey$$$

I'd love to come down eventually though for a trail run once I get more experience!

Thanks again guys,

Warren

Warren, we are thinking of having a get together in Phoenix next year, keep us informed I can always have a bar awaiting you at one of our shops and we can throw it on really quick before a run!

Here's the bumper you get for $550. It is steel.
The alloy one costs more, plus you also pay more for the winch plate like Mike said.

For $550, this baby is ready to bolt up.
This is Phong's steel TJM.

ECB

check out the ecb bars which are actually for the 4Runner/Surf. They look freakin identical to the TJM in the second pic.
http://www.ecb.com.au/frames_page.htm

Their site says they've been in business for 25 years. You think they may OEM for TJM? ...or vise versa?

How does the weight of the steel TJM compare to the ARB?

That link doesn't take you to the page I was hoping. Go to Toyota > 4Runner.
