Newb checking in under guise of brake question

Hey, I picked up a '92 4runner for my wife today. I was happy with the deal- 2600 for a 144000 mi truck. It has an auto in it, which I am ok with considering it is primarily a DD for my wife and pending daughter. The PO said that the tranny was a fresh transplant out of a '95. It shifts smoother than any 2nd gen I've ever driven, so it might be true. Looks like fresh CV boots. Not much oil or fluid showing underneath. Fresh paint job, which actually looks pretty good. Everything seems to work, except a couple of switches on the driver's door cluster. Even that works fine sporadically. It just doesn't lock the passenger front door or work the left passenger window.

The brakes feel a bit squishy, but I'm thinkin' they just need to be bled. What are the symptoms for the brake booster going? (see, I knew I would find a question to ask).

Mostly, I'm just dropping in to say, "hi". I've learned a ton already. Next mission- find me a 1st gen to play with so I don't start cutting on my wife's ride

Usually a failing vacuum booster will have a high hard pedal due to lack of assist, hissing sound when brakes are pressed.

Thanks! Got taken care of. I replaced the pads, bled the brakes and replaced a couple of leaking brake cylinders in back. Everything is nice and firm now. I appreciate the help and welcome.

Most shops like Meineke will do a free brake inspection for you but I see you got it figured out.
