New owner with new project '86 4runner
Well I purchased an old beater 87 runner last winter. I had a rough body, rough interior but driveable for $1000 or so. Found this forum started asking questions and then decided that rig was too far gone for fixing if i wanted to end up with something decent for less money than it would cost to just buy one already decent. Sold it for $1000 (lost money since i added used tires, rear springs and hubs to the deal but it was a family friend so that's ok)

Well a few days ago i run across an ad for a 86 4runner, good body, decent interior, only issue is the engine is running rough. $550 obo. I pick it up for $400 and drive it home. well start driving it. died about 30 miles into the drive and had to tow it the rest of the way but i was prepared and we got home in a few hours. all windows work, it has the dash mounted inclinometers and all in all it aint bad, certainly not for $400. Had another family friend who's a mechanic look at it and the diagnosis is probably a head gasket, perhaps timing chain going out and skipped a tooth, hes coming back next week with a compression tester to see more and maybe remove the top end.
This truck has 433K miles! but drives straight, shifts good, etc.
I'll take pics and post them up soon! Excited about the new project.
