I'm going with the mt/R's because they're cheaper here, and from all the research I've done.. I'm guessing they'll do a little better in the mud. Also this is the only nitto that has impressed me.

those 'flame" tires you speak of are apparently amazing for what they're made for. Which is sand. Everything else they're terrible at except a smooth ride...or so I've heard though the internet.
The reason there are lots of good reviews about the km2 is that its the first mud tire lots of people buy. They upgrade from their bfg all terrains. Many of these reviews are from people who have never tried a different kind of mud tire. Or they came factory on their j**p and cruise around the city thinking they're awesome. if you search enough you'll also find plenty of their the km2s downfalls. Most people won't talk down on something if they still own it. You want to find people who HAD these tires and then tried others. Then you'll get an honest review.

really depends on the terrain and your driving habbits. i used to love the old bfg's when they wore like iron and performed like a melted drag slik on hot top. but those tires arent around any more. presently im running swampers on all the trucks except one. 34 9.5 15 tsl bias stock tread , 33 12.50 15 heavily modified cut tread tsl radial , 33 12.50 15 slightly modified cut bias tsl , 33 12.50 15 stock bias. all these tires perform differantly but great for thier intended purpose and a variaty of terrain. as in the stock 34's on a low geared trk going slow dig deep and keep moving thru deep mud with out fail but as soon as yo try to go faster you loose it as compared to the stock 33 12.50 going slow they plow up and bog down but git up the rpms and a little speed and they rip right through. im not saying that these are the only tire that works (there are many) they are just what im using at the moment because of their availability right now in my area. the cut ones flex and work awesome on rocks when aired down to 16-8 psi. you got to start some where with tires to find whats right for you just remember you can sell them off and change because there is always some one out there that loves them. good luck!
