new 02 4runner

I just bought a new 02 4runner but when I went to the dealer to drive it they had it in 4low with the center diff locked. They said they were just checking to make sure everything was working after recon. How concerned should I be? I know it shouldnt be driven on dry pavement like that.

I wouldn't be concerned at all, if it rides fine then it is fine. Having the truck in 4wd w/ the center locked on pavement won't always damage things. The problem is binding going around corners and such. You could put your truck in 4lo w/ the center locked and drive 100 miles on pavement, as long as you don't turn. I was pulling out of my sisters yard in my Tacoma, I was in 4wd so as not to wreck the grass, I forgot to put it into 2wd and it bound pretty bad as I cut the wheel to turn onto the street, but once back in 2wd it was fine, had I kept driving like that it could have been an issue, but just a little bit won't hurt things.

I drove mine for a week in 4-hi before I knew it was in gear. Didn't learn that untill I went off-roading. Luckily nothing got jacked up. I'm sure yours is fine, just check like Elton said.
