Need some help, Please

Im new here so i hope im posting this in the right section, I have a 95 4 runner sr5 22re 5speed, i just recently put a new motor in, getting ready for first start up, my problem is when is was hooking all the wires back up i made the mistake and hooked the alt. ground wire up to the alt. resulting in the alt 80amp fuse blowing, well i replaced the fuse, but now the fuel pump wont kick on , i left the fuel line unhooked to drain any tarnished gas from the tank, but now it wont kick on, was wondering if i did more damage then just blowing the fuse when i hooked the ground in the wrong spot, also cranked the motor over (with efi fuse out and coil wire disconnected) to prime the pump, was told that the oil pressure gauge should go to normal operating range while cranking, it never moved, could these problems all be linked together, please help, THANKS

i figured out that you have to be cranking the motor for the fuel pump to turn on, still having trouble priming oil pump, i packed the gears with petroleum jelly before installing it to help prime, and feel confident that the spline hub is installed correctly on the crank shaft, any advice on how to prime oil pump, or will it not read pressure till it is running?

Jump these 2 terminals in the diagnostics box (Fp and +B). Then turn key in the on position. Don't crank, just turn key on. Should be able to hear fuel pump running constantly. Try this and let me know.

Red face

Just what ground did you hook to the alternator??

As there is no alternator ground wire. It is grounded through the bracket.

You don't want to drive around with those terminals jumped. In case of an accident and a fuel line breaks, you do not want your fuel pump constantly pumping gas! Could be dangerous.

Need to figure out why fuel pump isn't kicking on without the terminals jumped. Hopefully Wyoming9 will pitch in. He knows more about that than I do.

I had the same issue a few months ago. Ended up needing a new fuel pump. Read through this. Good info in there

It's not jumped now, I didn't realize you have to be cranking the motor over for fuel pump to kick on, it's working just finep now, I just jumped them so I could drain the tank without having to crank it over

So another problem arose while driving it, after we drove it a bit, the motor will rev up to 1500-2000 Rpms when you push the clutch in, when coming to a stop it also surges when ideling revving up and then idling down, any ideas?

Definitely symptoms of air pockets in cooling system. Probably needs a big ol burp. That's a good start.

Makes sense, so pretty much just let it run with the cap off for awhile watching the coolant level?

Also could be vacuum issue. How positive are you that you got all the vacuum lines correct?
