Need some help

I have a couple of questions. I have lost 1st 5th and reverse so I did a search here and saw that the shifter seat bushing is usually to blame for this, I was wondering what is the removal/install procedure on this? the shfter itself is real sloppy I got a good foot to foot and a half side to side play in it (its never done that before). 2end question is both of my valve covers are leaking like a siv so its time for gaskets, driver side looks pretty easy but passenger looks like a byotch is there a way to get at that sucker without taking off the intake manifold? oh ya the truck is a 1989 pickup, ext cab, 3.0 L, 5speed, 4wd. this site is great, I hope to use it as much as I can to help my truck out and get her back on the road.
thanks guys
steve

wow thats crazy that the blots came out take that last one out and to a hardware store for replacements

as for the pass side valve cover you have to remove the intake take your time and mark all the vac lines
make sure to add rtv sealant to the spots shown in the FSM after the second time trying to seal up the pass side I painted all of the bolts so I knew witch bolts I would have to remove if I had to do it again.
on mine I think my leak is coming for somewhere else now.
