Need Recommendation for New Shock Absorber

HI:
I want to replace all 4 shock absorber on my 1997 4Runner: 2.7L 4WD with manual transmission. My wife is the pimary driver of the car and we don't drive the car off road. Can you give me some recommendation on which brand to get? I would like to make my car less bumpy and "softer". Is gas shock better? Will non OEM brand like Billstein or Monroe work? Any suggestion where to get it online?

Thanks.

bilsteins will be too stiff. i recall one or two members who said the monroe shocks are pretty cushy. can't remember the model name so you will have to search and do some reading.

some other things you can do to soften up the ride is buy passenger truck tires. my recommendation is the michelin LT or LTX
