Are my shocks correct?

This is my first post and I'm a newbie mechanically.

I'm thinking about finally taking the plunge and working on my own truck. I'd like to start with the shocks. After looking under my truck I noticed the old ones are attached on different sides of the rear-end. Is that normal? Are my shocks correct?-dsc00043.jpg
