i have a 98 4runner with the 3rz, and a magnaflow muffler. i like it a lot. sounds deep and throaty for a 4cyl, but not honda civic like. i say go for magnaflow.

I put a 2 1/4 flowmaster on my 2000 Tacoma 2.7 and it sounds great. It doesn't sound like a sport compact. I also have one on my '83 and the combo of the Header and flowmaster spools the rmps alot faster!

Talking

I have a flow-tech muffler and 2 1/2 inch piping comming from my cat back with a 3in black-chrome tip (cost me about $275) all custom, and it is the straightest exhaust i have ever seen!!! But it doesnt sound ricey at all, at idle it sounds like a V8, at throttle it is loud but not ricey, if anything it sounds like a V6 more than a 4cyl! I am still running my stock cat and everything.

I like the factory muffler on my 22-re. I like it nice and quiet. Noise doesn't equal power.
