maybe it won't be stock
So I had said earlier this week that i wanted to keep my yota stock But i just had a chance I couldn't pass up my old man found an old astro van 4x4 that has the 4.3l v6 which in my eperience is a pretty good motor...all I had to do was haul it off and it's mine all of the pieces I need to do a swap are there harness computer everything...I am on the fence with this idea leaning more towards no because i could use the motor on other projects of mine...has anyone on here done a v6 chevy swap? and if so how do you like it? pros? cons? and i put sylvania silverstar headlights in the other day and am very impressed with the difference in lighting it was easy and cheap.

be warned: it will drink gas like an irishman at oktoberfest
i don't have one (wouldn't mind doing the swap on another project rig), but i have yet to see any 4.3 get better than 11 mpg

i drive a 4.3L blazer daily and i get 18-19 mpg. im not sure where you get the 11 figure from. it is a good motor if looked after and maintain. if my blazer dies from any reason but engine failure that motor is quickly going into my yota.

The 4.3 is a good motor with a lot of power. I'd swap one except i don't like mixing and matching vehicle companies, i'm staying 100% Toyota. The Vortec 4.3 is a reliable engine though.

but yeah, if you get 18-19, i might have to do the swap

well hell guys i may just have to build the v6 and swap it one day...My 22r only has about 10k on a rebuild so i'm going to put a nice set of 33's under her and wheel for a year or two with the 22r and then once I get the v6 built and ready I'll do the swap hopefully by then I'll have another project yota that I can use the 22r in...thanks a lot for the feedback guys I am still learning how to use yotathechs searches and forums the search I found for the 4.3 swap says that most parts for the swap are available to buy with some fab work involved

That really depends on when I do the swap I hope i'll have another yota by then that I can get crazy with and turn into a crawler...If I do end up getting rid of it I'll be sure to post it up here and i'll keep ya in mind...By the way there is a company here in idaho the buys and rebuilds toyota motors or if they don't need rebuilt freshen them up it's a great deal and the prices are real fair I think for a rebuilt 22r it's around a grand they were going to swap my old 3vze for the new 5vze for $1500
