lower tcase gears or in my axle
I hav a 85 pickup, and I was wondering if I should put lower gears in my transfer case or lower gears in my axels first. I do drive this truck on the street alot, but im not needing any help turning the tires on the road im just wanting a lil more power on the trail. Does anyone have any advice on which one i should go for first?

lower transfer cases are only available for low range, they won't affect high range so I would recommend that you regear your thirds first.
33's=4.88 gears
35 & 37's=5.29's.
Gear for what size tire you are gonna plan on running, no sense is paying for it twice.
and think Solid Pinion Sleeve, not a crush sleeve
a lot of the answers you are gonna think of have been asked before...search and you will learn

If you are happy with your current tire size and the power on the street it does not make sense to change the gears in your differentials. When you are no longer happy with street performance then look into gears for the differentials.
Changing the gears in you transfer case will give you a lot more torque when you are in 4low. It will also allow you to drive much slower which is nice for control. If you have a manual transmission the clutch won't struggle anymore. The only problem with changing the transfer case gears to 4.7 is that your top comfortable speed in 4low will be around 15mph.

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
You really don't have 4:10's running those 32's... You had 4:10's when you were running the factory 28".
To find out your effective gearing minus .10th of the gear per inch you went up on your tire.
That's why speedo's are off and the truck don't have power b/c the truck's now out of its peak torque curve...
