I need help. i just rebuilt my 87 22r, everything is new and built to specs, i went to start it tonighy for the first time and have a loud knocking noise from the front of the engine, it even does it when you turn it over by hand but not at the same place in revalution every time. any ideas? im down 1200 bucks and it hurts bad,

 

Valves adjusted properly?

 

Pull the valve cover and look down into the timing chain area to see if anything is wrong.

If it is nothing external on the engine, you may have to drop the pan and take a look.
