So I've started doing some research and I really like the early pickups, but I'm not sure what year. What ar e the pros and cons of the different early pickups that people here have found? I'm mostly looking for a truck that I will use for hauling crap around, bt may eventually turn into a trail machine.

i like my 84 but first gens are nice but i like my 5 speed to

 

Get an 85 ext. cab or 4 runner. Solid axle. and fuel injection.

I guess it would depend just what you call a early year pick up??

That could be a 2005 to some people or a 83 to others .

like all vehicles each has it`s own pros and cons.

It comes down to what you like!!

Some say you just have to have the solid front axle. I have had those and I like for my use the IFS and my Warn Hubs.

It all comes down to your use of your truck.

 

I've got an 83 5 speed and Im loving it. I would suggest a newer model if you want a comfortable ride and nice interior.
