Lift Kit

Does anyone know where I can get a good quality lift kit for not a whole lot of money? I want anywhere from 3" to 5" lift.

And why ? (Yes this does make a difference).
What sized tires are you running ?
What type of wheel do you do, or is this just for mall cruising ?

You can attain 3" without a lot of money..anything over that, and you're spending some dough...because you can't just slap on over 3" of lift on whatever it is you have without having to replace, and/or modify other parts of the truck....but yeah, it would help to know what you're driving..then you can get some good answers....type in 3" lift in the search box, you'll get about 50 pages.

Hmm... cheap lift kit?
Ebay or Craigslist.

Not sure about the 3" or 5" ranges, but 4" is the norm for a lift kit with the appropriate parts to drop the front differential so that the front axle shafts don't bind (on 4wd IFS trucks). 2-4" seems to be the norm for 2wd lifts. There are 'long travel' kits from Downey and Total Chaos that don't relocate the front diff on IFS trucks but both are stretching stock parts to the limit with only 3" lift and will break them with 5" lift unless the front drive shafts are replaced (again, IFS trucks) and both offer kits for 2wd trucks as well.

I've had fairly good luck with Craigslist with 2 lift kits- one for my 88 4Runner and another for a 91 2wd p'up. Paid 400 (USD) for each. I lucked out on the 91 kit 'cause it was a fabtech 2.5" performance kit and had never been installed. I talked with the guy a bit and got part numbers off what he had and crossed it over into what the kit 'should' be and found I had every part, brand new, never installed... for 400 bucks.
On the 4Runner, it was a take-off kit. The guy had it on his truck and decided to do a solid axle swap. He told me who made the kit and I looked it up on the 'net and found out what should be in it. When I went to meet the guy, I looked everything over and decided to buy it. The only thing missing was the rear u-bolts. So I spent another 100 on u-bolts and had a complete lift for 500 bucks. On the up side, I also got his old spindles and steering linkage as well so I have a potential source of wheel bearings and the like.

If you are going the Ebay or Craigslist route, the important things to find out are what lift kit is being sold, what hardware it will include and whether or not it will work for your truck.

Moved to Newbie section. This post is a perfect example of what I've made my quest to stop happening. Wantayota24 please take the time do some reading before you post again. You did not even take the time to tell us what kind of rig you are trying lift which varies drastically from year to year. You will not get a good answer if you do not even provide some basic information. If some good information does not come out in this thread it's going to be deleted.
