Just Got A 90 Runner, What Should I Watch For?

Moved from a 88 Cherokee to a 90 V6 4Runner, what are the main things to watch for?
Forums are a great resource and I'm glad to move here from the Jeep world.

Take good care of the engine.
Its good and bad.....
The bad is that it is one of Toyota's worst engines ever.....
The good is that being a Toyota its still better than most other engines!

The V6 is considered notorious for blown head gaskets and valve clearance issues. However, if properly taken care of, they do just fine. For instance, my dad has a '95 with 190,000 miles and only one change of headgaskets. Mainly, if you take care of the coolant system, you shouldn't have many problems with the headgaskets. Many people attribute the headgasket problem to allowing the engine to overheat and not doing proper maintenance. Anyway, good luck and welcome!

the motor take care of it i havent had headgasket roblems on my 884runnerv6 and mine has 262000miles. the rear coils a notprious for sagging issues but when you can put a 4inch procomp lift on it on replace the rear coils with some from an 4wd f150. But have fun and enjoy your new 4runner
