installing rear leaf spring help

Hello,

I have a 1986 Toyota Pickup 4x4 and I am trying to swap in new rear leaf springs. I had problems getting the bolt out of the hanger (frame to leaf sorting mount), a common problem it seems. I tried using rust catalysts,a breaker bar, impact gun, and heating up the hanger, no luck. I ended up cutting the bolt out but also cut the metal sleeve on the bolt. Does anyone know where I can get a new sleeve? Or can I go with a larger diameter bolt without a sleeve?

The dealership said they could order the part for $80 but that seems outrageous.

Thanks,
Gary

When you say hanger. Do you mean the shackle it self or the shackle mount got cut? If you can take a picture or 2 it would help us tremendously. If you cut the shackle I can't imagine new ones being that spendy. But they might be. The leaf spring connects to the shackle to the shackle mount, and the shackle mount to the frame. What part did you accidentally cut?

Just what are you trying to do??

The bolt and sleeve get so seized they never come out. No matter what one tries

Your new springs do not have a bushing??

Are you going with used springs that you need to replace the bushings??

I'm at work right now but I'll upload pictures when I get home.

The springs I'm installing are new and came with bushings, but no sleeve. So the bolt will not fit snug in the bushing.

For clarification I had to cut the bolt to get the spring off and ordered new ones from the dealership but the dealership wants $80 for the sleeve.

Front spring hanger. Not the shackle at the rear if the spring.

Try All-Pro Offroad.
They sell the sleeves to take an M18 bushing ID down to M17.

Here are some pics of what I'm talking about. The one title sleeve is what I cut. In that pic (from outside to inside) you see the leaf spring, bushing, sleeve, then bolt. I need a new sleeve.

The second pic titled hanger is the location where the spring mounts.

Thanks.
