Ignition lock cylinder question

Ignition lock cylinder question

I went to leave my house last night and my key would only turn a little bit.

I worked it a little bit and I now can turn it to the accessory.

My question is what are the chances it is the lock cylinder and not the column assembly?

Also my Hanes says I have to take the steering wheel off to change the lock cylinder is this correct ?

Any help would be great.

I have it park on the street and if it is there over night I will get a ticket.

It would be useful for all the questions you ask if you would put the vehicle you own in question in your sig.

Try some graphite.

try a new key cut from vin from the local dealership. sometimes it is nothing more than wear on the key. should cost less than ten dollars to have a new one cut by vin. cheap fix that works about 50% of the time

I have 3 keys all 3 do the same. And one is a new cut key by vin from dealer.

then it is most likely you will have to replace key and tumbler set. i would try some powder graphite like wabbit said first. GL

I will try later today.

Do I have to remove the steering wheel ?
It looks like I shouldn’t have to ?

But my Haynes says I need to remove it .
