I just replace the engine on a 89 Toyota truck 3vze, it's running but it's idle to high, around 1500 RPM, the crank shaft is on the 0 position and the rotor is on the #1 spark plug position, it crank right away but it will not come down on the idle, i try to retard the timing but the truck got lousy, the timing is showing about two inches backward on the 0 mark on the crank shaft with the timing light on it and 12 o'clock on the #1 spark plug rotor. I notice that the heads were done before and the engine is in excellent running shape. I try twice removing the distributor and resetting to the # 1 position but is the same. can someone give and advice of what is going on

 

sounds like you might have a vacuum leak somewhere, d let the engine run and listen with a cut up hose and see if you can hear where its coming from!

 

can a faulty intake gasket cause the truck to idle high, i had two bolts that were strip.
i had check all the vacums hoses and and there in good conditions
