I really wasn't sure where to put these questions but...

Ok. Here's the basic project. I'm planning on using an ACME Adaptor plate to mate a VW 16V motor (same block as the Diesel motors) to a Toyota Transmission. The Drivetrain assembly will go into a custom kit-car RWD chassis. They mention on the site that one of their plates can mate the motor a 22R transmission.

From my research the 22R is the motor designation and is a Carburated motor right?

Here are my Questions:

1. Any difference between the 22R and 22RE motors as far as transmission mounting?

2. From what I can gather the 2wd transmission used in the early vehicles is designated by Toyota to be a R150. Does the R150 fit the 4Cyl only or 4 and 6 cly? Are there different versions of the R150 based on what motor is in the car?

3. What other toyota vehicle or other vehicle brand transmissions fit onto the bolt pattern that the 22R motor has (and whatever other motors share that same bolt patter) {for example, would the transmission for an Mk3 Supra work, or maybe something from a GM?}

I really appreciate any info I can get. The ACME website says that the plate fits 22R motor transmissions and I just want some more specific transmission model information, which model and years toyota's I can pull a RWD/2WD transmission from, and what other transmissions can be swapped inplace of the factory tranny.

Thanks again.

Nelson

answer to #1 the trannies shuld mount up but there were 2 different trannies 1 was the g52 and the other is the w56

answer to #2 As far as my knowlege is concerned i thought the r150 tranny only came with toyotas with the 3.0v6

answer to #3 try and find a w56 tranny cause they are tough. they came on toyota trucks from 1985-1994

So it looks like my target vehicles are 2wd 85-94 trucks. Did every single one of them have an identical W56 tranny or were there different versions/ratios?
