I Need Some Clarification on 3rd Member Interchangability

I read around and this is the best information I could find on swapping out 3rd members.
http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/diffs/#front
I'm still not sure what is interchangable. I have axles out of a 1981 Toyota Long Bed. It was a 4 cylinder truck and I'm sure I have 4 cylinder 3rds with 4.10's. I want to go with either 4.88's or 5.29's. I already have a full spool for the rear and a Lock Right for the front. I also have 30 spline Longfields in the front. What I'm trying to figure out is what are my options for swapping out 3rd's?

1. Are V6 3rd's a good option?

2. Are High Pinion 3rd's a good option?

3. What would be my best choice for my FToy?

Thanks

you can swap 3rds up to 95 with little/no problem

V6 are stronger

hi pinion only in front (good choice if you are lifting)

There is also the e-locker option, but you have to modify the housing to fit

So I can use the same Lock Right and Spool in these 3rd's? (With the exception of the e-locker 3rd.)

I don't know about the spool or lockrite being interchangable between a V6 or 4 cyl diff. I just know the whole diff will drop in.

spool yes,

lockright, check again. I was under the impression that you CANNOT, because the 4cyl is a 2 pinion, and the V6 is a 4. I know you cannot interchange an aussie locker. Aussies and Lockrights operate in the same manner, so hard to say.

OK,
I'm sticking with the 4 cyclinder 3rd's. So I can continue to use my spool and Lock Right. I'm just going to put 4.88's on what I have.

Thanks for all the info.

Dislike them A LOT.

But, I understand people on a budget, so whatever floats the boat I guess.

Personally I don't recommend anything except ARB's and Elockers. Most people don't want to wait that long, so they go cheap.
