how much should torsion bars be cranked
I just bought a 88 4-runner with 3" rancho lift and 33's. I found that one side was about an inch higher than the other and both were way too high compared to the rear. I lowered both and set them so the fender height is the same on both sides. My problem is that I want the torsion bars at factory height and I have no ideal where to begin.

factory ride heights are listed in the FSM assuming factory sized tires. use those measurements and compensate for tire size.
By "height" I am assuming you mean factory tension.
by 3" rancho lift do you mean the old tubular rancho arms or a drop bracket kit? Because it makes a difference in where and how you measure where the FSM wants you to measure.
IMO, don't worry about factory tension, just adjust them to level the front with the rear and be done with it.
