How to install gears myself

Please...not hardly. If you can't read and follow instructions, then don't bother trying. If you can, then it's some of the easiest, most simple to understand work you'll ever do on a vehicle. There's NOTHING complicated or difficult about it. "Absolutely perfect" is the over-statement of the century. There's actually plenty of margin for error, much more than some other things. You've never rebuilt an engine before have you? WAY tighter tolerances and attention to detail required.

The first one you did blew because you OBVIOUSLY made a mistake, and a rather large one at that I'd say by the sounds of it. How or what it was, I don't know(and don't particularly care). All I can say is you must have been half asleep or drunk at the time. Because a trained chimp can setup gears properly.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe you can explain IN DETAIL how hard it really is and why?

Hint: I've done it before...MANY times. Times I've managed to screw it up = 0. So take that into account before going into a long-winded, excuse-filled, rant on the subject. If you would, please. Thanks!

That's your opinion. I stated facts. Ask Zuk how sloppy you can do the work or if ONE mistake in the wrong place can scatter a diff.

You said it blew because I made a mistake...DUH. I didn't shim correctly; I know what I did....what's your point that YOU are perfect so everyone else should be or they're stupid?

I got news for you....no one is perfect & diffs have to be very close to it or they won't last. Building a diff CAN be done by a noob & I never said they couldn't in fact I gave an example that my 2nd one worked great....I was a still a noob at it & it worked great.

I'm glad you're so great (or a liar) but not everyone else is.

BTW, I've read through MANY of ZUK's write-ups. And have learned many things from them. One of those things being that he doesn't do everything "by the book", and has also made mistakes in his experimentations. I don't have to ask ZUK squat! I pretty well know exactly what his opinions are on the matter. Which are generally that there are certain specs that you need to follow strictly, and some that you don't. You ask him. For instance ask him about CBPL.

Discouraging people from doing things that they can easily do is counter-productive to the very purpose of a site like YT. We're here to give people technical advice on how to do things themselves. THAT'S THE ENTIRE POINT! Anybody can just take their rig to a "professional" and pay them to do it. Why ask us then? So we can tell them to do just that? NO! Because they would like to know how to do it on their own. Which they usually can, when provided with good enough info on how. Fixing cars isn't something that can't be done by MOST folks with half a brain, the proper tools, and instruction manuals as a guide. A little good advice from folks who have some experience with these things never hurts either. There's NOTHING on a car that can't be fixed by someone who's taught themselves how, or been given a brief tutorial on how, to do it. Automotive mechanics is pretty basic stuff. NOT VERY COMPLICATED. Not like say, ROCKET SCIENCE!!!

And don't expect ANYBODY who makes a living doing something to tell you you can just as easily do it yourself. THAT'S NOT GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE!!!. THINK ABOUT IT!!! Of course they say things like "poor gear installs are the number one cause of gear failure". They need to convince you that your best option is to pay them to do it for you. How would they make any money otherwise? DUH!!!

What? Do you really think there's some kind of "gear setup academy" that you can go to to learn how to set gears up? Or that that's a requirement before you attempt to do so. AS IF!!! All you need to know that's even in the least bit complicated are how to use a torque wrench, dial indicator, and a micrometer or dial caliper. If you make a mistake it will be because you don't know how to use those tools correctly, and/or you don't know how to read. Plain and simple.

Yeah, I'm a "liar"(NOT!). Whatever you people wanna believe. Just do your homework/research before you question my authority on matters of an automotive mechanical nature. Because you can guarantee that I have. I don't just know everything because I say I do. I know everything because I've investigated the subject thoroughly.

The gear pull is on my spring project list, collecting tools and reading the FSM till then
