how can I tell what mods my truck has?
I just bought a '93 pick-up, 3.0 5 speed. It has a lot more power than my old 95 4runner (3.0, auto) and my 84 (2e 5sp). It must have been lifted, it has 32s w/lots of clearence.
Are their any ez ways to tell what has been done? What do chips look like? Any pictures would help. I just want to know what I have.
Basically, I'm asking what do common mods look like? Thanks.

I'd call the person or organization you bought it from first, and ask them what modifications have been done to the vehicle. Next, if you are not familiar with what a Toyota engine looks like before or after modifications, find a similar vehicle and ask to see the engine. Look at the air intake, spark plug wires and coil. If it rides somewhat rough, the torsion bars may have been adjusted to clear larger tires. If a proper lift has been installed, it will have a name brand on the suspension parts.

Yeah, get a yotatech or COTTORA person in your area to look over it with you. Most of us will perform such a favor for a small beer fee...Lol.
A good place to start looking is under the hood. Does it have a conical K&N air intake? Does anything have brand names on it like Jeffires suggested? Is there any wiring under the hood that just doesn't look llike it came from the factory? Keep in mind that the truck is probably lighter than the 4Runner, so it may just feel like it has additional power.
Under the truck, look at the rear leaf springs. Look at the shocks: what color are they? Do they have labels on them? How about the front? Is there a spacer on top of the coil spring? What do the front shocks look like? What color is the coil spring? Is the exhaust original equipment? In other words, is it quiet? Does the exhaust pipe exit the vehicle at the same place as other trucks you see on the road? Is there a brand imprinted on the muffler?
After awhile, you'll become aware of other Yotas on the road just like yours, and you'll start to notice similarities and differences. Don't hesitate to ask a stranger in a parking lot. Toyota truck owners seem to enjoy talking with other Toyota truck owners. And keep checking this site, the tech articles, pics etc.
