High Idle On My 22re

Guys, just bought my first truck; 1992 22RE! Pumped to get working on it! One of the first things that stood out to me was the high idol. Even after it warms up, it idols very high. The other day my dad and I had the hood popped and he pulled the dipstick, as as soon as he did, the idol dropped to normal. I put my finger over the dipstick hole and as soon as the pressure built back up, the idol went right back up. Any ideas on what this could be? I would say the idol needs adjusted, but its almost as if there is too much pressure building in the crank case. Let me know what ya guys think. Thanks!

Have you tried adjusting the idle? There is a screw on the throttle body. It should idle around 750rpm warm if i remember correctly.

Yea...that idol speed sounds right to me too. I'm going to try the idol adjustment and see if that helps. Wasn't sure if the "high pressure" was part of the problem or not.

Might check the PCV valve out. Maybe it is clogged and letting crankcase pressure build up.
