help wheres the temp sender

Im trying to locate the temp sender for the gauge . my gauge is always sitting at a little under halfway and id like to check the sender because it never fuctuates even when the motor is cold . thanks guys

It's on the intake manifold between the 2nd and 3rd piston. It will have a spade clip on it. Just look behind the thermostat housing and you should see it. Taking it off will require the removal of a few vaccum hoses, so note where they came from.

thanks !!! i found it but im thinking the gauge is the problem . i unplugged the sender and grounded the wire and the gauge did the same thing as soon as you turn on the key it goes to just under halfway and stays there . Im now considering an aftermarket gauge since im not sure if fixing the stock one is something i can even do ..

Well sounds like your switch is bad...gage gets it's input from the sender.

The thermo sender is basically a variable resistor switch. The resistance goes down as the tempature goes up. Basically the same thing as the thermo switch for the ECU.

I guess call it what you like as long as you know what it is...
