Help: Another Engine Swap Problem!!!

I bought a JDM 3.0 to put in my 89' toyota and there has been some wiring issues that i thought i could get past by splicing the wires together to make the plugs match until i got to the knock sensor plug. The wire coming out of the harness on my 89' where it plugs into the knock sensor pigtail is a single, big wire and the knock sensor plug on the JDM which is probably a lot newer motor has two small wires running to it and I have read on here where it seems to be a PITA to change the knock sensors around. So is there anything that I can do to get around changing the sensors? Both enginges are on the ground so it wouldn't be as bad as if it were in the truck, but all the changes I am having to make to this motor to make it work in my truck is a PITA anyway so any help would be greatly appreciated.

do you know what year the engine is out of... it might help determine what to do.
