Havin Hard TImes 88 4runner
hey everyone i have an 88 4runner 22re , 5 speed , its leaking oil like a bastard i suspect its getting into the fan somehow and blowing all over my motor , any ideas? , also my alternator died so i changed it and it worked fine for a while no i notice a horrible squeking sound when i take off and its not charging but before with my bad alternator when i let off the gas the lights went dim and everything, its not doing that but it wont charge! also has a slow power leak somewhere have to jump it every other day or so, man i love my toyota but i odnt know where to start and the ol budget is tight, any ideas?

Your oil leak is likely coming from the front pulley seal. Its an inexpensive fix. It involves removing the fan, radiator, belts. Then remove the 19mm crank pulley bolt. More then likely the crank pulley will have a goove worn from the seal, so you go to the parts store and buy a "Speedi-Sleeve", accept NO substitutes!! Also get a front seal. When you examine the pulley, check for the possibility that there is an old Speedi-Sleeve that needs to be removed first.
When you reassemble, put a drop of locktite on the crank pulley bolt threads and make sure you tighten it to spec, nice and TIGHT.
Then you can clean up your motor and see what else is going wrong.
