Have a chassis question...
#1
Hey guys,
I just bought a 93' Pickup. It has 27,000 miles on it and the body is VERY clean. The frame on the other hand, isn't. The previous and only owner kept the outside and inside clean, but never washed the salt off the frame in the winter. The frame is rusted through very badly and looks like swiss cheese. My father and I have decided to swap the 2x4 chassis for a 4x4 frame and then I'd have a super clean low mileage 4x4 desirable pickup.
My question is this: What frame am I to look for? Are there better years than others? I believe that 88-98 was this generation of body, but maybe not frame? I was wanting to get a rolled/burnt/crashed 4x4 truck with a 5 speed trans.
Give me any information about anything that might help.

Thanks guys!
Here's some pics of the truck:

Your 93 2WD(4x2) regular cab SWB(Short Wheel Base) PU body should bolt to any 84-95 4WD regular cab SWB PU chassis. Minor modifications may be required. Such as enlarging the hole in the cab for the shifters, and maybe swapping the combination meter/instrument cluster(or maybe not, but yours has no 4WD indicator light). And possibly 1 or 2 other things I'm not aware of(and/or can't think of at the moment). But it should be doable without too much complication(in theory).
Similar body style generations for PUs are:
1st generation 2WD 73-78
1st generation 4WD/2nd generation 2WD 79-83(Solid Front Axle 4WD)
2nd generation 4WD/3rd generation 2WD 84-88(84-85 SFA 4WD, 86-88 Independent Front Suspension 4WD)
3rd generation 4WD/4th generation 2WD 89-95(IFS 4WD)
Keeping in mind that if the combination meter needs swapped, only another one of the same generation will be an exact fit.
I thought you said your dad had done this before...
