This Granny's still tryin'.

I thought I saw a link to a head gasket replacement tutorial of some kind here.. but search as I may i haven't been able to find it. Anyone ?
***Just a quick one to vent. I took my radiator to a radiator shop and the fella there said he would CALL me before doing anything that would cost me anything, to let me know what my options were. Finally got the call 4 days later. 1st he says my radiator came out of a 91-92 6cyl. Then he explains why it's not fixable... but if I want it back, it's gonna cost $25. A new one is $190 he says, and he won't charge me the $25. Or he can toss it in his scrap pile and we're even.
I told him that's a heck of a way to try and force a sale, and I'll go somewhere else to buy a new one. I felt he should have been up-front with me and told me he was gonna charge to check it out instead of saying he'd call. Just venting. Thanks.

Tire place around here tried that sort of game on my sister. She bought tires from them, they decided to align it without getting an ok then charge her without mentioning it.
I read invoices. She got a free alignment.
Around here they can't disable a car and use it as ransom to charge the customer for a repair or charge to fix something without a signature agreeing to having work done. Dunno what the rules are regarding this in your town, if you can find a radiator for less than $165. If you do go with his shop be aware of what they'll charge you for, shop supplies, antifreeze, clamps, hoses, fairies, stardust, etc.
Pigs.

check out the sticky link to faq's and info in this section.there are listings for fsm that should have head gasket info. also if you sign your name on bills and work orders under the last item, it mikes it hard to alter the paper work .just a suggestion. a former boss taught me that.
