Its a 84 4x4 pickup.with the 22r the guy that has it says it has a electrical probpem and won't r ru n becase of it he said he talked to a guy that said it was "one of the three main wires". Its pretty much a done deal he bringin to my house tommorow to trade for my 300ex. Anyway i was wondering what yall reckond i should check once i get it in my hot little hands sorry i can't give ya anymore info till i get it but it has good comprsion and is complete so ill be happy

It sounds like you have your work cut out for you.

just start at the battery and check one circuit at a time.

Are you saying it cranks but does not start??

How else could a compression test be done.

 

good luck and dont get too carried away with it, having a yota is like crack you always want to be working on it or adding mods.

 

Just follow everything. Not too hard to diagnose a 22R. Its the dang stock carb I have issues with!! Enjoy it! I have had my 87 for about 3 years....bought it bone stock...ive spent about 8k on it...and im just now to my SAS lol

Ok ive got the truck in my possesion it turns over and acts right but dose not fireup my first guess is the thing that sits over on the left fender and hooks up to the distributor i can't remember wether its called the coil or the ignitor pack right now(been up48hrs) but if its not that what are some other things i should look at? The truck is in semi rough shape but is totally fixable. Theresa a good amount of bondo that needs to be sanded. The bed is off a 2wd non-us and is in decent shape its not bad at all rust wise but it is bent not really a big deal but im trying to tell yall everything the interior is rhino lined and i have all the peices exept for door panels. The left tail light is melted and the hood is signed by the camera crew (the guy i got it from is part of some kinda reality tv show so the truck will be on tv) its a dlx with the tach and all that its got some very nice seats in it the front left fender has at one point been jammed and it needs floor boards theyve been cut out thats all i can remember off the top of my head and ill try to get some pics up tomorrow overall i think i got a pretty good project

 

Start with the simple stuff first.

Ignition - plugs, wires, cap, rotor, maybe a new coil too.
Carb - make sure it's delivering fuel, rebuild if it needs it
Engine - do a compression and/or leakdown test
Electrical - check positive battery leads and all grounds, replace if necessary

Those are all cheap and easy things to do to start eliminating problems. If that doesn't get it running or at least knowing better what needs work you're going to be getting to know the truck VERY well .

Nice! That was quick. What did it take to get her going?

 

Its got a loose wire going into the fuse box the coil had somthin minor and it wasnt getin gas on start up we think and the batt was dead. Found out the frame is gonna need some patchin and probably a new carb

Got some more work on her done today(new clutch line, slave cyl, fan and shroud got the nissan tailgate to fit it better ) but i found out my rear brake lines are cut and when got it put back together we found out it dies under a load
