gas tank

i have a 2004 toyota 4runner that has been getting about 100 miles for a half a tank and about 210 miles for a full tank, im pretty sure that i should be getting better gas mileage. Anyone have any input on this? It would be great if i could go more than that on a single tank. The dealer just gave me new spark plugs and a new airfilter if that helps at all ???

How many gallons of gas are you using for the 1/2 and full tank? How does that relate to the actual listed size of the tank?

Is that the 3.4? That should definitely be getting more than 210 miles per tank.
My 1991 3.0 averages 240+ miles per tank (16mpg) and I have 198,973 miles on it.

It's a six cylinder limited 3.4. I agree, I think it should be better. Do you know of anything that I can try besides the spark plugs and air filter

Again, how much gas is the tank taking for a half and full fill up? I'm guessing it should be about a 19 gallon tank, so when you say a full tank, is that in the 17-18 gallon range or what?

You could pull any stored codes in the engine computer and see if anything is stored there.

Fill up the tank, set your trip odo, drive for half the tank or so, fill it back up. Take the miles traveled and how many gallons it took to fill back up. You can figure out your mpg then and we can help you out.

We don't know how big your tank is yet...

As for improving mpg's, heres some stuff to do:

Switch to synthetic oil, 5w-30 if your engine specifies so, if not 10w-30.
Synthetic drivetrain fluids
Clean the o2 sensor
Pump up tires to 35-40psi
Learn to time red lights properly
Stay under 65mph

my truck gets on average 18mpg.
