its under your bed, you will need to drop the tank, remove the bed, or cut a hole in your bed for an access panel. Here is a picture of an 87 reg cab with the bed removed if it helps you...

Thanks,it was helpful.Does the fuel pump just come right off of the top of the tank?Do these fuel pumps usually last a while or how often do they go out?
I have a 88 that's real similar to your truck.

Unfortunately the tanks on yotas are a sealed unit. You have to replace the tank when the pump goes out. They usually last 10k miles or so.

You can use a torch to cut out the pump and weld a new one in but its kind of hard to get a good seal.

Not sealed! Lift the bed or drop the tank and on top is a round plate with pickup tubes etc. on it Take this off and lift the unit out Fuel pump is part of the unit. Pretty self explanatory when you see it.

Yeah they are definitely not sealed in toyotas. Replaced the fuel pump in my 87 4runner about 2 months ago, you unbolt that round flange in Brush Rats image and pull it straight out of the tank, pump is attached to the bottom of a piece that connects to that round flange plate. A couple bolts and connectors, clean up the sock on the end, and Bob's your uncle.

PS: Oh man, I just helped necro an old thread :/
