I can't even break the pdf down online for free because the 83mb exceeds their free standards. Sorry I couldn't get it to you sooner, I'd be happy to ship it to you on a cd if you want. I couldn't find the link that I got it from either, it was on yotatech somewhere.

Well I just talked with the mechanic today. He said that the TPS, Air flow meter and injectors were all good. He told me that it was a fuel pressure problem. He said there was a difference in the 88 fuel pump and the 94 fuel pump. All in all he said that the 88 pump doesn't have enough pressure for the 94 efi engine. So hopefully that's what's causing the problem. Maybe in a few days I will find out.

this may seem a bit stretched, but was the ecu changed out to match the swap over? Fuel pressures are also different beginning in and around '94 if i am not mistaken... any way i feel your pain... i too am working to correct a po's rigging on a 22re...

Gtown, I dont think so. As far as fuel pressure I was told that my 88 had a carb in it at one time ran on about 7 pounds of pressure. The 94 efi thats in it needs around 40.

The fuel pump for the 22r is installed in the cylinder head and is mechanically powered by an eccentric lobe on the distributor drive gear.. Anyhow, now that the truck has had an efi swap, the fuel pump is located in the fuel tank and is powered by electricity.

Well I know its been months since I have posted anything. My truck is still in the shop. So here's a update. The fuel pressure is good while its idling. The mechanic thinks its the ecu or emc cant remember what he called it. Also he told me that the fuel injectors were fine.

Sorry to see you're still having a hard time with it. It gets complicated when there is custom work like swapping in efi.

I E-Mailed parts of the 95 service manual to the address you gave me. the sections are all broken up and at times named odd names but start by looking at the troubleshooting guides.

Thanks for taking the time to send them. I received them all. They will be a big help. I checked on my truck yesterday and was told that he got it running but its still sputtering. He said that he could put in a condenser to stop it. He said that he would get it running this week. But I've heard that for the past 4 months. If not Ill take it somewhere else or do it myself. Again thanks for all the help.

I am slowly working on a post for fuel issues. I have had my rounds with it. It isnt as complicated as it may seem at first. I suggest getting a Haynes manual. I refer to it quite a bit to help do some checks. Post #1282 and #1297 https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...l#post52094603 have alot of information. Some is repeated.

On 88 models you will need to look up how to jump the fuel pump. It is F? and B? something but find out for sure. I will eventually look at it and see. The test ports are different from my 86 that I run these test on.

To use a LED for a test light, it is polarity sensitive. If the LED doesnt light, switch the leads to the connector. I dont think you will need to do this test as you said it is running so your injectors are firing from what I am reading. I dont understand the condenser that you are speaking of??

Also I dont have alot of information on the Ignition side (Coil, Igniter...) but the other test are relatively easy to run and when you get done with these test and checks, you will feel alot more confident in your learning experience.

I re-read your thread and it registered differently this time. I couldnt e-mail my 88 manual but my 95 manual was already broken up small enough to send! Sorry that it took me so long!

I am sorry but did your mechanic pull the injectors and flow test them??

No other way to know you could tell they were getting the signal to fire but have no idea what kind of pattern or if they were clogged .

The interesting thing if your mechanical pump was still on the engine meaning the original head was put back on the fuel line plumbing would have been very interesting .

Not to mention trying to fire injectors at only @ 7 psi not much of a spray pattern I would think

I can only hope your getting this work done at a very reduced rate or it is being done gratis .

You never said if this was a friend doing the work or if you were paying $$$

This is why I love these vehicles get them close and they try and run.

I have finally got the truck running. I'd like to say thanks to yotatech for having this website and for all of the members that have helped me along the way. There was several problems compliments of the former owner. The vacuum lines were not installed properly, there was a wiring issue, and also the fuel pump was bad. There was a lot of jerry rigging to go thru. Its running great now. I hope this forum helps some one in the future. Again thanks for all the help. KyleFoo thanks for the PDF files. Wyoming9 the guy working on my truck charged me $325.00. Could have been worse. He's retired military and its just a side job for him.

Just love the collaboration here and figure that may be after a long search for a forum of T100 owners that I not find, may be I post my concern here to the gentlemen of solution.
I bought this pick up truck , a 1996 T100 3.4L V6 5VZ -FE, and I bet u the truck consumes like hell about double its usual3.4L to now 6.8L and it has been pretty expensive on fuel. Changed the spark plugs and injector but trouble persist. I was thinking that it could be the ECU that probably need re mapping but I think again that if it was the case the glutton wouldn't start and drives well like it does. Thanks for any council that can point me to how best can save on fuel, coz running it is really too expensive. Great and powerful truck though, I think if toyota made it to drink this much then the 5VZ engine wouldn't have seen the market.

Great news! Glad you got it sorted! That is a GREAT price for troubleshooting all the different problems and working on the wiring. He did have your truck long enough though!
