Looking to get some new front struts on my Runner. Recently installed a daystar 2.5in spacer lift in the front and with 99 coils, and the stock shocks in the front just cant handle it, I'm noticing some wear in my tires that I'm thinking is from the shocks not being able to handle the spring.

Option one... Tokico

Option two... Rough Country

Option three... you guys have any ideas???

The rough countries are cheap, but I have heard several good things about the Tokicos, and nothing about the Rough Countries, so the $20 seems like it would be worth it. Plus Toytec is a company that I would like to support... cause they rock.

Edit: Looking to keep it in the sub $200 price range, I'm a working college student and as much as I would like some coil overs... not gona happen.

You mention your getting wear in the tires... You changed the springs which most likely change the ride height.. Did you get an aligment? Cause ANY change in ride height needs am alignment.

Have you thought about the bilstein adjustable front shocks?

 

KYB on amazon . search for "4runner shocks" ... kit cost 171bucks.

 

I did get an alingment right after the lift was installed, so pretty sure its not that, I worked at a tire shop for a good yr or so and the wear defiantly looks like its cause by worn out shocks, shame on me for letting them get that way, but too late now.

The Blisteins look really nice but if these cheaper options work well then I think I would rather go that route. If I don't hear anything good about the Tokicos, or the others they will fast become the #1 option though.

I already have new rear shocks, nitrochargers, just got them, since I have OME springs in the rear, they will be on after this weekend, so I dont need a whole kit, and it seems on amazon the KYBs only come in sets of 4??

 

Found the KYBs by themselves, around $100 for the fronts is what they seem to run, how well do these work on a lifted truck?? Anyone have experience with the KYBs and spacers up front? They seem like a killer deal comparatively.
