Front end problems

First off, new to the forum, so hello! Long story short I popped one of my birfields(open diff I might add). I wasnt sure which one it was, so I took a 50/50 chance and tore into my long side. Got it all apart only to realize that the joint was very healthy, and my gamble didn't pay off apart from getting some new grease in there. I got it all back together and now it seems that my brake rotor is shifted in farther than when I started some how. I went to tighten down my caliper bolts and they bottomed out on the rotors... so my question is am I just missing something, or would that have to be something that I've put back together wrong? I just can't think of anything that would cause the caliper to be farther to the inside than when I started. I also have warn hubs just FYI. Any insight is appreciated.

Ok well I got it all sorted out tonight. Maybe you guys can help me out a little bit with something else? I have everything on the short side of the axle taken apart and just got done cleaning. I drove it home after I broke the birfield and now the inside of the knuckle housing? is scraped up pretty bad from all the loose metal going for a spin cycle on the drive home. Should this housing be replaced or will it be fine with enough grease in it?

Ok heres a few of the damage. And one of the birfield just for the lolz, but please disregard the shredded axle seal and beat up bearing as I'm already planning to replace them now

So... hows it look? Give it to me straight doc.

theres nothing wrong with that housing just get dremile and clean it up as good as possible and as to where the seal goes use small dremile head thats for sharpening then use the small buffer wheel just get the burs off and if it made hump spots in there"where the seal goes" get those down as close as possible and when you put the seal back in just lightly coat the outside of seal with black glue. this is very common issue but never a reason to find another unless it wallered out the hole

ya me and my buddies just use the black gasket glue in the metal tube.you know theres blue glue and orange and black. the black is high temp and not as spongey you just need to put a little thin coating around the outside of seal just to creat a better seal cause i'm sure it will not be perfect. i've done this alot and never had a leak. both sides of mine have been that way for years

dont forget that usualy when the axle breaks it knocks the diff oil splash guard loose its right behind the axle hole check in your housing real good cause alot of times it if it breaks it slides off the axle in the housing when you pull it out and you never see it. it will eat up your ring gear check good
