Cool front axle ?'s

so of all the threads on here i don't see any for front sfa pre84. I am about to buy a '81 lifted yota. the owner says that there is a leak by the tire some where. from what i know i would think birfeild seals are shot, so i was hoping to get some in put from other,as far as how easy of a fix is it and what it could be? what other seals are at the ends of the axle? what would be leaking? (gear oil?)
thanks for looking.

the reason you haven't seen a pre 84 SAS is because SAS stands for (solid axle swap). pre 86 are already SFA. as fas as the leak goes, i have IFS so i can't answer that. i just thought i'd clear up what i could haha

If you have a leak in the front axle, just buy a complete rebuild kit from marlin crawler, make sure that you get marlins upgraded inner axle seals, there definatly worth getting.

Yup, the good ol' leaky Toyota knuckle

Download this Factory service manual
http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1985/1985FSM.pdf

Buy a knuckle rebuilt kit from Marlin or Trail Gear and rebuild the front axle. I also would suggest Marlin Crawler's upgraded inner axle seals. They will help keep the knuckle from leaking in the future.

By the way, if you want to run anything over 31" tires, get a different gearing.
the 81 axles came with a 3.90 gearing, and it's a dog with anything over 31"...
