Well I recently bought a lifted toyota pickup. The body is from a 90, and the previous owner told me that he "Thought" that the frame is from an 85... Keep in mind it is not very stock so some things may have been changed along the way. I have talked to some other people who have thought by looking at it that the frame is still a 90 that has just been SAS'd. I don't know enough to tell the difference by dimensions etc. I am starting to plan future modifications and need to know what year the frame is, how do you easily tell?? If I have to I can go out and get pics of specific areas, just let me know. Thanks in advance.

Well... Pretty sure the last, or 1st of the VIN is on the P side front wheel well, stamped on the frame... If you're lucky it won't be ground off..

This is a IFS to SAS frame. See if it looks like yours... Notice the square tube and new hangers... And how they don't look factory...

yup i will get some pics, just need to know what will help to id. I found the numbers in the wheel well on the frame, but it is not a vin i don't believe, the first letter is R, and it isn't enough numbers. my front end does look like that, just didn't know if people did that during RUF setups anyways. Any way to tell between 86-88 and 89+ even if it is SAS'd? i want to know what makes the difference between moving the hanger 11" and moving it 9.5" for later years on the 63 chevy spring swap... also measured my springs, fronts are 48" eye to eye (measured along spring, i am assuming this is how you are supposed to measure) and the rears are 52" (this is the one that confuses me)

thanks for the posts, that last one seems pretty helpful. I am assuming that an 80's rear toyota spring was used in the RUF setup. And the stock 89+ rear 51" spring was left in the back w/blocks. I am pretty sure have a SAS based on the mounting hardware and extensive front end work. So all in all i am guessing that my frame is from an 89 to 94 truck and not earlier.
Any more info you can find is obviously apreciated!
